Insomnia

T: E. Waldner; M: Stainless Still 2008

You turn off the TV, yeah you brush your teeth and you wash your face

you put on a flimsy nightgown and retire to bed, such a soothing place

You take a book and flip through some pages

You wait till I come, too, and hold you tight

now it's time for the sweet dreams

a brushing kiss a and a whispered, a whispered «good night»

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Your thoughts frolicking like prancing fillys, staggering along on insecure hooves

meandering around on sunny meadows, then disappearing in sudden moves

you realize you'll have to follow them down

into a darkness where tiny creatures creep

and although you nearly got around

this bend, you now lose your hope to fall asleep

Insomnia, she's the goddess of the sleepless night

Insomnia, she wears a coat so dark and a smile so flashing bright

that you cannot take it and you have to stay awake

You're tossing and turning on your side of the bed, you mumble and you mutter
and you moan

you turn your suffering eyes on me, «why can't I sleep?», you repeatedly groan

I've been on my own journey

into the realm of night and dreams

but now my eyes are dry and burning

my sleep is over, over too, it's over, it seems

Insomnia, she's the goddess of the sleepless night

Insomnia, she wears a coat so dark and a smile so flashing bright

that I cannot take it and I have to stay awake
